Ode to the 5-0

We moved in our house on Five Oaks Dr in 2005. It's just one street w/ a culdesac. We are really close to 4 households. The house next to us are Denise and Vince

We met them first b/c they have a boy around Kayla's age. Denise then had Izzie who is 2 now. Vinnie and Kayla played all the time. But now that Izzie is getting older Kayla plays more w/ her.
On the other side of us we have Stephanie and Andy.

They moved in Nov 07. We've known them forever. Which is cool. Heath and Andy were BFF's growing up. It's funny b/c when they were thinking about buying the house Stephanie asked if it would be a problem w/ Heath and Andy living so close. I was fine w/ it and thought it would be really fun. It really hasn't been a problem at all. They have a dog named Cooper. And yes, Cooper is their child. Stephanie is pregnant now so it will be interesting w/ Cooper in the mix.
Since Andy and Stephanie have moved in they've brought in the next two houses in the group.
Next to them is Janelle and Alex

Now there is something very special about this house. Alex is our mayor of the 5-0. Before we all hung out there was this house up the street that everyone and their kids would flock to. The "man" of the house knew everything on the street. So we called him the mayor. But he didn't know we did. His house was even white w/ a front porch and rocking chairs. Denise's house is the first house on the street. The mayor's was almost at the culdesac. So it was a trek up there for our kids to come play. He would sit in the chair and always be looking down the street. He knew all the happenings. Every neighborhood has one of these people but it's usually a woman. Well, our little group nominated Alex as the mayor b/c Alex knows things. Not sure how, but he does. So that makes Janelle the 1st lady of 5-0. They're pregnant too. I believe 2 weeks behind Stephanie. They're due around August so this summer will be great!
Next to the Mayor we have The Hunn's.

Dunn is on the left and Mark is on the right. Mark is the one that owns the house. Dunn is his roommate that moved in last summer. We call them The Hunn's b/c It's a mix of their last names. These boys are both single and they're not gay. haha.
There are two house across the street that appear every now and then. Sam lives across the street from Stephanie/Andy. He has a hot tub we use to get in during the summer time. Next to Sam is Laurie and Michael. They hung out w/ us for a bit but they've been hibernating this winter.
I love my street!! We get together w/ at least one of the houses every weekend. We have block rummage sales, Halloween parties, secret santas and Xmas parties, Rock band nights....We have a google forum w/ just our group to keep updates w/ everyone. We even designed our own logo for tshirts and hoodies.
We see more of each other during the summer b/c we're outside in our driveways everyday after work. The kids like to get out and play together. No more trekking up to the Ex mayors house. They sometimes come to us now.
We've only known each other for a short time but I consider them best friends. They've been there for us during some tough times and vice versa. Some even showed up in the ER and waited w/ us when I broke my leg. You should stop by sometime and hang out. It's always a good time on the 5-0!
